A basic unit set is: power pack, one or more skimmers (brush, disc or weir), sorbent pads, pillows and booms, workboat, and exclusion / containment boom with anchors. After use, equipment is decontaminated, checked and returned to readiness — a dirty skimmer in the depot is not a response asset.

Temporary storage (IBC, tank, lined buffer pit) must be planned before the first litre is recovered. Colour-coded waste fractions keep oily soil, oily water, mixed oily waste and clean waste apart.
